Krinidis Mud Baths

The Krinides Clay Treatment Centre is located 17 km from Kavala and 3 km from the village of Krinides.

The Mud baths of Krinides, the most renowned in Greece and included in the 30 best bath towns in Europe, guarantees the cheapest spa you can indulge into.

The mud baths of Krinides, with its therapeutic clay and curative thermal springs, geographically belongs to a wider area with a rich history that begins with the foundation of the city in 360 B.C. The Mud baths of Krinides are known as the Baths of Alexander the Great.

The place has been a "sustainable laboratory of nature" for tens of thousands of years ago up to today, manufacturing this precious, for our health, material with admirable precision. In the past, geological, ecological, biological, and chemical conditions and complex physical mechanisms were favorable in the creation of the right environment by and in which therapeutic clay was created and aged naturally.

The water that gushes from the spring has a temperature of 29C. It is suitable for hydrotherapy in the form of balenotherapy and water mineral drinking therapy.

The mysterious thermal water contains potassium, magnesium, and radioactive elements. The "mature clay", that is, the clay together with the thermal water, contains "montmorillonite, kaolin, muscovite, and about twenty other elements, main of which are Ca- Mg- HCO3. The hot springs water is characterised as hypotonic curative water.

The temperature of the clay reservoirs is between 27C and 29C.

Characterisation: Peaty, argilic, organic therapeutic clay.

It has a PH of 7.30, which is excellent for the human body.

Mud Therapy

The mechanism of action of the clay from Krinides during the treatment is rather complex and complicated and is based on the use of "mature" clay. The application of the clay may be total or partial, by immersion of the body in it or by applying clay on it.

The facilities are open from the 1st of June to the 15th of October, seven days a week from 08:30 am to 18:00 pm. Visitors can also find accommodation on the premises, a restaurant and café, worth visiting.

The
Camping accommodates up to 165 people, if someone wants to stay for days, to complete a course of treatment.

The treatment may include 10 to 15 applications, with a break of 1-2 days, and its duration is 20-30 minutes.

Hammam Baths

The Krinides Clay Treatment Centre offers the following facilities

It is located in the northern part of the resort, near the waterfall. This is a modern center with a large swimming pool with jet spouts and many treatment rooms. Here you can not only swim, but also order different types of massages. Before swimming in the pool you need to undergo a small examination by a local doctor.

THERMAL WATER

Hydrotherapy is indicated for rheumatoid arthritis, hip and knee osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, rheumatism, lumbar problems etc.
